Our centre is closed for redevelopment, reopening in July 2026. There are no facilities - no coach parking, no toilets, limited car parking.

Introduction

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the services, products, website(s), and facilities operated by Tursachan Trading Limited (“the Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing our website, engaging with our visitor-attraction services, purchasing products, or using any facilities we operate, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Tursachan Trading Limited is a private limited company incorporated in Scotland under company number SC157572. The registered office address is Calanais Visitor Centre, Calanais, Isle of Lewis, HS2 9DY, United Kingdom. The Company’s principal activities include the operation of Calanais Visitor’s Centre and trade as Calanais Visitors Centre & Standing stones.

Use of Website and Services

3.1 You agree to use our website and services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws.

3.2 We endeavour to ensure that the information on our website is kept current, it may not accurately reflect the position at the time you place an order. All descriptions provided on the website are for general information purposes only and shall not constitute a sale by description.

Visitor Attraction and Services

4.1 Access to Calanais Visitors Centre & Standing Stones is subject to availability, safety policies, and operational requirements. Admission tickets can be purchased online or in person at our venue. General admission tickets include entry to our interpretation space as well as Calanais Standing Stones. Once booked and upon activation, your ticket is valid for 12 months from date of original visit.

4.2 Proceeds from ticket sales support the charitable aims of Urras nan Tursachan and the work of Historic Environment Scotland, with a portion allocated to the Calanais Fund for Heritage.

4.3 Once booked, a digital ticket will be issues via email, this can be printed or shown on your electronic device and be used for each visit. Matching ID is required for digital as well as physical tickets.

All prices are inclusive of VAT at the current rates and are correct at the time of entering information onto the system. We reserve the right to change prices at any time.

Adult tickets are valid for individuals aged 17 years old and over.

Children’s tickets are valid from 5 to 16 years old inclusive. Admission for children under 5 years old is free. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.

General admission tickets cannot be used for educational visits, which require a separate education specific ticket.

We reserve the right to change prices at any time without notice.

4.4 Tickets for special events are only valid for the day of purchase and do not allow entry on any other date and for any other attraction. You must check the special event terms and conditions upon purchase.

4.5 If booking the Residents Pass which is available to all residents of the Outer Hebrides with HS post codes, please ensure you bring photo ID and proof of address.

4.6 If booking the Historic Environment Scotland (HES) admission ticket, then please ensure you bring your valid membership card with you on your visit for all applicable tickets.

4.7 Children aged 16 years and under must be accompanied by and adult, who must be aged 17 years or over.

4.8 Baggage cannot be stored at the visitor centre. Please make alternative arrangements for your baggage prior to arriving.

Conduct

5.1 No food or drink is permitted to be brought into the visitor centre. Only food or drink purchased from the cafe is allowed to be consumed within the cafe areas.

5.2 The use of all smoke related products including e-cigarettes, vaporizers, tobacco and its derivatives are prohibited, and this includes outdoor areas.

5.3 No commercial filming or photography is permitted without prior written consent.

5.4 Management reserves the right to remove anyone from the premises.

 

Online Purchases

6.1 Online orders become binding upon confirmation. We Reserve the right to cancel any order.

Cancellations and Refunds

7.1 Refund policies vary depending on the specific product or service purchased.

7.2 General admission tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Date and time changes are permitted subject to availability. All ticket changes must be made no later than 48 hours prior to the time of original arrival, after which period, tickets are non-changeable.

7.3 We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or close any part of our services, attractions, facilities, or events where necessary for operational, safety, legal or other reasonable grounds.

7.4 In the event that we cancel your booking or close the centre for reasons not attributed to you, you will be offered (i) an alternative date or time (where possible), or (ii) a full refund of the affected portion of your purchase. We shall not be liable for any additional costs you may incur, including but not limited to travel or accommodation expenses.

Limitation of Liability

8.1 Nothing in these Terms limits liability where unlawfully to do so. The Company is not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Intellectual Property

9.1 All content provided by the Company is protected and may not be reproduced without permission.

Changes to Terms

11.1 These Terms may be updated periodically. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

Entry and booking
Availability Trade group bookings are now being taken for Summer and Autumn 2026.
Pricing Admission is £12.50 + VAT per adult (£15.00 incl VAT), £8.33 + VAT for children aged 16 and under (£10 incl VAT), and under 5’s are free of charge. Group sizes of minimum 12 and maximum 60 persons.
Included 1 x tour guide and 1 x coach driver (must be booked). Parking for one coach for 1 hour (must be booked).
Trade portal Prebooking is essential via the online trade portal. Bookings cannot be made in person or via email or telephone.

Trade customers must have an account to book with us. Please complete the trade registration form if you do not have an active trade account: Welcome! We look forward to working with you – Fill out form.

Bookings must be made no later than 48 hours in advance of your visit.

Coach parking Coach parking must be booked with your group admission at time of booking.
Group size Minimum 12 persons and maximum 60 persons.
Payment
Invoicing All charges will be invoiced post departure to the address provided on the account.
Payment terms Invoice balances are due within 30 days of the visit date.
Non-payment We reserve the right to cancel future bookings for operators who fail to pay promptly.
Amendments and cancellations
Date & time amendments Date and time amendments can be made via the online trade portal up until 48 hours before the visit.
Visitor number amendments Visitor number changes must be emailed to trade@calanais.org no later than 48 hours before arrival time. Increases are subject to availability.

After this time, groups arriving with fewer people than booked will be charged for all pre-ordered tickets.

Bookings arriving with more people than booked cannot be guaranteed entry due to restricted site capacity.

Cancellations Can be made via the online trade portal up until 48 hours before the visit. After this time, all pre-booked tickets will be charged.
Unforeseen circumstances Occasionally UnT may cancel bookings due to unforeseen circumstances. In this event operators will be informed as soon as possible and will not be charged.
