Archaeological Adventures in the Outer Hebrides

Join Gerald Ponting at the Calanais Standing Stones and Visitor Centre for a fascinating afternoon exploring the archaeology, discoveries and stories behind his book, Archaeological Adventures in the Outer Hebrides.

Gerald will begin with an illustrated talk about the book, sharing insights from his archaeological adventures across the Outer Hebrides and the discoveries that have helped reveal more about this remarkable landscape.

Following the talk, Gerald will lead a walk to the Calanais Standing Stones, where he will point out the locations associated with two intriguing discoveries: where Stone 33A was found and the tip of Stone 19.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Gerald about the archaeology of Calanais and then explore the stones with him, discovering some of the stories hidden within this extraordinary ancient landscape.
