Celebrating Local Creativity

We’re proud to work with a diverse range of local makers, artists, businesses and creative partners to bring together a unique collection for our shop.

Inspired by the rich Hebridean heritage and landscapes surrounding us, we aim to showcase the creativity, character and stories of our island.

By working closely with partners, we can support the people and businesses who make our community so special, while offering visitors something meaningful to take home.

Every purchase is a chance to take a little piece of Calanais with you – and to share in the stories, culture and spirit of the Isle of Lewis.

We’re proud to champion the makers and businesses who help bring the character of our island to life.

Calanais Through Time

One of our commissioned partnerships is with illustrator and ceramicist Hester Aspland.

Hester created Calanais Through Time, a collection inspired by the standing stones, local folklore, archaeology, landscapes and island traditions. The collection is now featured across a range of products available in the Calanais Gift Shop.

Calanais Harris Tweed

A collaboration between Harris Tweed Hebrides and Britton Scotland, inspired by the ancient landscape of Calanais. Rooted in the structure of a classic Hebridean tweed, the cloth combines traditional craftsmanship with colours inspired by the stones, land and skies surrounding Calanais.

This is more than a fabric, Calanais Harris Tweed is a quiet reflection of the landscape – its land, stone, sky and enduring connection island life.
